I Heart Tummy Time!

The Little Mimic

The Flamingo

I got a new scooter for my birthday and I love it! The first day I rode it, we discovered a new move Mom likes to call "The Flamingo." I'm not trying to do it or anything. It just comes naturally to me, I guess. Fortunately, Mom had her camera handy so you can all see it too.

Aside from my funny new move (funny is Mom's word, my word is cool), I did a really good job riding it for my first day. Mom was pretty surprised at my control. Check it out:

Notice at the end, I even had an admirer come over to ask me about my scooter. I let her have a turn. What can I say...she was cute.

Spittle Bug The Giggle Goose

Confused by that title? Yeah, well...Mom calls me Spittle Bug. Poki's nickname is Sweetsie Fly, and since I spit-up alot...well you can do the math. Anyway, the Giggle Goose part can be explained below.

The latest thing that makes me laugh is when Mom sniffs my feet. I totally crack up. We'll have to get a video of that soon!

Birthday Party (Part 1)

Daddy took far better pictures than Mom, but we didn't want to put off posting for those of you waiting to see evidence of my Robot Birthday Party! We'll post more soon when Daddy uploads his pictures too.

We had alot of fun! Mom asked me a couple of months ago what type of party I wanted, and when I said "ROBOT!" Mom knew she could take full advantage of our left-over moving boxes.

So...we started off by making robot costumes,

and then we wore our robot costumes...

while Ping Pong and Babushka watched.

Then we played on the playground...though, frankly, we were too fast for Mom to get many pictures of that.

And then it was time for cake! Mom made me a very special blue robot cake. We'll have to post a picture of the cake action (blowing out the candles, cutting the cake, stuffing the cake into our mouths) later, but for now, you can at least see what it looked like.

And finally...presents!

Thanks to all our friends for making it such a fun party! We love you guys!

Check back soon for more pictures and videos!

Poki's Third Birthday!

My Sweetsie Fly,

I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by. Age two brought many a milestone: your first haircut, your first trip to the dentist, a move to a big boy bed, a move to our very own house, and…without a doubt, the biggest milestone of all…you became a big brother. And what a big brother you are! I am so proud of how well you’ve taken everything in stride. It’s truly amazing. You’ve adjusted to all these family changes far better than the rest of us!

My sweet boy, you’re growing by leaps and bounds. You wash your hands all by yourself, stand on a stool to get your own cup of water, carry your plate to the sink when you’re finished eating, dress and undress yourself…there is too much to list! You’ve become so independent. It’s a bittersweet thing for a mother to witness, to tell the truth. Thank God you still crawl in my bed every morning to snuggle. Thank God I still have that smidgen of my baby.

In this next year, I promise to be the best mother I can be to you. I promise to be patient. I promise to be as thoughtful and understanding as that patience allows. I promise to tell you a Carson the Explorer story every time I put you to bed. I promise to give you my spare change to help you save up for that tractor you saw at Home Depot. I promise to do whatever I can to encourage your amazing curiosity and creativity.

As hard as it is to see you get older—as much as I miss my first baby boy—I am so excited to see the man you will become. All the things that frustrate me the most about you are exactly the things I think will make you an amazing grown up. I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel to watch you become him with each tiny step. Even when those steps make me want to rip my hair out. It is so worth it.

To steal an idea from Allen Ginsberg (he was speaking about the universe, but think it applies to love): I have to find a new word for love. The old one means too many things from other times and people. You, my sweet boy, deserve your own word. But for now, I love you. More than you could ever know. Happy birthday, kiddo.

3 months!

Sorry it has been an entire month since we last posted! We have been extremely busy this month. Shortly after moving, we went to TN for Do-daddy's 70th birthday party! We had a blast visiting with all the family. I promise to post pictures of that very soon, but in the meantime, let me just tell you all what I've been up to. Basically, it's all awesome. I'm constantly talking and smiling and laughing and blowing raspberries--you know--baby stuff. Here's a video to prove it:

Oops--er...that wasn't the right video. That was my mom teaching me a very cool and not at all embarrassing dance. Here's the right video! The best part is at the end, just FYI...

I'm also just about sitting up by myself. I'm getting there!

I'm also pretty much rocking tummy time.

But what do I do best? Come on...Is there any question?

So there you have it! I'm three months and seriously cute. Check back in for more pictures soon--and don't forget to come back tomorrow to see Mom's very special post for Poki's third birthday!
