Poki's New Beard

In case there was ever any doubt that I look alot like my dad, here is a picture of me with a beard. Okay...it's really just prunes, but can you see the resemblance?

The Real Fun

Yeah, toys are really just little things that get in the way of the really interesting objects--like my toy box. I like to throw all of my toys out of my box and play with it. After a while, I get tired of the challenge of trying to pick it up and move on to something simple like a teething toy, but I always return to the hard stuff.
My mom thinks it is because this is the cheapest thing my parents have ever purchased for me. I think it was something like 99 cents.

It Not Just For Bath Time Anymore

I've decided that leg thumping and wash cloth sucking is way too much fun to limit to my post-bath ritual. That's why I stole a wash cloth while my mom was folding laundry and just went to town with my bad self. It is seriously so much fun, people. You should all try it. Go ahead--right now. Grab a wash cloth, get on the floor and start thumping your legs as hard as you can. It'll only hurt for a minute. Once your legs go numb, it's totally fun.

More Laughing

Am I correct in assuming that you just can't see me laugh enough? That's how my parents feel, which is why every time my mom gets me going, she yells for Dad to come in with the camera. What does she think I am, her little ham that she can put on display for all the world to see? Okay fine...that's exactly what I am. So what?!

Cue The Dry Heaves!

Or maybe the not so dry heaves. I skipped the Mr. Yuck face this time, so my parents thought I liked green beans...that was...until I let them know for sure.

Cutie Booties!

When I was still living in my mom's belly, she registered for a bunch of gifts for me. She put these really cute booties on there called "foot huggers" and was so excited when Miss Lani got them for me. She has been waiting until I got big enough to wear them. Well, today was the day! Too bad for her I hate them. Here are some pictures of me throwing a massive tantrum when she was trying to get me to go outside to watch the snow storm.

I started out okay...even mildly amused.

Then I got mad...

And then I got really mad...

Then I finally got one of them off and tried to eat it...

Oh look--a kitty! Wait...what was I doing? Oh yes--trying to kill this dumb foot hugger!

No Post-Bath Ritual...

...would be complete without thumping my legs against the crib mattress and sucking on the corner of my towel. Just so you know, my mom captured this happening in full force before she put my diaper on me, and that video was much better, but Granny would have been upset and accused her of ruining my future political career if she posted that version. So! Mom had to put a diaper on me and start filming again. By that time, I had settled down--but this is still pretty funny. It is me that we're talking about, after all.

Hey Laaaaaaaadies!!!

Shout Out to the Penny Press Ladies! Holla!
I love my fans.

Poki, This Is Cup. Cup, Meet Poki.

My mom read that it is time to let me drink from a cup--something she thought would result in complete disaster: choking, gagging, puking...you name it. She totally underestimates me.

After drinking from my cup, I wiped my own mouth. I love doing that after I eat. I'm very well-mannered.
Buuuuurp!

Max Wants To Go For A Ride

Max is a very curious kitty. He likes all my toys. The other day, he grabbed the corner of my tummy time blanket and ran across the room with it. I don't think he expected to get very far and was very surprised when it flew across the room with him, scattering all of my toys. He hid under the bed for like an hour after that, chewing his foot. (That's what he does when he is nervous. He's kinda weird). And don't worry--I wasn't on the blanket at the time, which is why he tried to play with it. He never plays at the same time as me. He just watches me play, waiting for his turn. Just like yesterday when we got back from my walk. Can you spot the kitty in the picture below?

Squash!

I know many of you are bored with the food tastings...don't worry! Only green beans and peaches to go!

Happy 1/2 Birthday To Me!!!

Yep, I'm 1/2 a year old today. That means that my mom and dad have managed to keep me alive longer than most of their plants.

To commemorate the occasion, I woke up at exactly 1:11 am this morning (the time of my birth), screamed once, then put myself back to sleep. After reenacting my birth, I was very tired, so I slept until 5:30 am. Then Mom came in, gave me a birthday snuggle, fed me, and then I slept until 8:30 am. Then, I Houdinied my way out of my swaddle and played for a while. My mom woke to the sound of raspberries and lip-smacking echoing through the monitor. She's been a good mommy to me, and I have kept her up for many, many nights lately (I'm going through a phase)--so I decided to give her a little gift.

Here are some pictures taken of me this morning during jumper time:

New Game

This is my new game that I like to play during diaper changing time:

Me and My Daddy Snuggling

How cute are we?

Snow! For Real This Time!

And this time I saw it!

All The Babies Napping

Yesterday, we were all so tired, so all the babies in the house curled up on my Mom and Dad's bed and took a cat nap...literally.

Introducing: Poki As Kicky La Rue

During a rehearsal for the Kicky La Rue music video, I decided I wanted a different role. I mean, I know it's a cliche, but even though I'm a really good actor, what I really want to do is direct.

Poki Chops and Applesauce

I know this is getting very boring for you people, but my mom is convinced there are some grandmothers out there who want to see this stuff. So here goes: Applesauce. Here are my thoughts in a nutshell: They needed some pork chops.

The Drying Machine

After my bath, my mom dries me off with her special drying machine. It's a tradition that has been carried down in her family for...well...at least one generation. She's not sure exactly. Anyway, I LOVE the drying machine! I especially like when it begins to lose power and breaks down. The only thing that can get it started again is lots of giggles. Thank goodness I have plenty of those to spare.

Zoom Zoom!

Sometimes I get the zooms before bedtime. That usually means I find things that would normally be really dumb to be really funny...

Poki and Leroy

Things were not supposed to go down this way. My mom was trying to capture my adorable lip-smacking during some tummy time when my kitty walked up to say hi. The tummy-time/lip-smacking is pretty boring, but what happened when Leroy crashed the set is pretty darn cute.

Leroy loves me almost as much as I love Leroy. We should have our own buddy cop show. The Baby and The Cat: Solving Crime From A Crawling Position. I would say "from the bottom up," but we can't really get to the "up."

First Snow!

...well...first flurries. You can tell that my Mom seemed to expect much more from me with this one. It was just some white rain...to tell the truth, I didn't even really see it.

Poki The Monkey Much Prefers His Feet!

Like I said, I learn something new every day. Like, for example, after my nap the other day, Mom walked in to find me doing this:

Talkin' Smack

I discover new things every day. Sometimes, I become totally obsessed with these new things and do them over and over and over again. The other day, I learned how to smack my lips. It was funny because I literally woke up one morning and smacked my lips as Mom was changing my diaper. I've been doing it ever since. Mom wonders if it is another form of language development, or maybe I'm practicing chewing. I don't know...I just think it's fun. Sometimes babies do things because they are fun. Not everything has to be a brick on the road to my Nobel Prize, Mom. Sheez.
Anyway, here is a video of me and my new obsession. My mom thinks I look like a Poki Puppet. Sorry it is so dark. I happened to be doing this right before my bedtime...I sort of had the zooms.

Poki, Bananas And A Very Naughty Kitty

Bad cat, Max! You're not supposed to be on the dining room table! Especially not while I am trying bananas for the very first time!

I Know This Will Come As A Big Surprise...

...But my parents think I am really cute. They think I am the cutest baby ever. Because of this, they want my Christmas card picture to be the cutest I have ever taken. Well, let's just say it wasn't. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, my parents took 153 pictures of me. Can you believe that there is not a single one where I am smiling and looking at the camera? I have recently discovered how fun it is to stick out my tongue, so every picture is of me, sticking out my tongue or of me putting something (or things) in my mouth. My mom says the dreams of my becoming an international baby model and supporting her for the rest of her life have been squashed. Oh well...
Just to prove her wrong, I posed for some adorable pictures today.

Guess who suddenly loves Tummy Time?
All my mom has to do is applaud and say "Yay, Carson! Yay, Carson!" and I begin to enjoy it. (Well of course I do). I push up on my arms, stick my booty up in the air, kick my legs, pull my legs underneath me, or roll back and forth from my tummy to my back and my back to my tummy, and so on. I'll admit I was sceptical at first, but this tummy stuff isn't so bad. I might even catch up to my girlfriend Scarlett before too long. (To see her in action, click here: http://mycheekybaby.blogspot.com/2007/11/okay.html ).

And this is a bittersweet picture. My Uncle Jeff (also known as the Best Best Man) moved to Colorado. He called and left a voicemail just for me. Here I am listening to it on speakerphone. I love my Uncle Jeff so much and I am really going to miss him. I guess I can forgive him though, since some might say I am technically from Colorado.
Shout out to Uncle Jeff: Holla!

Finally! Some Fruit!

Now this is what I'm talking about! I ate some pears tonight and man oh man, were they good!

Water Is So Cool!

I love bath time. It's my favorite thing. I like it so much that my mom has decided to let me have one every day at the start of my bedtime routine. When I would take my bath with Mom in the big bath tub, she would hold me so my feet were under the faucet. Now that I have my new bath seat, I can hold my hands under the faucet too. Did you guys know that water could do this?! It's so cool! My turtles swim under the faucet too and they dance around. I just can't get over it. You guys should really try turning on the faucets in your bath tubs and sticking your hands under the water. I highly recommend it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

For my first Thanksgiving, I had sweet potatoes! My reaction was very surprising to my mom. Aunt La La said I needed to have some marshmallows on top, the way God intended.

Here Kitty, Kitty!

I love my kitty Leroy. He let's me pet him...if I'm gentle. Yesterday, I patted him very sweetly, then yanked a handful of fur. He just looked up at me as if to say: "Ouch...Why did you do that?" He's the best.
(Mommy Note: Don't worry! Leroy does not have claws! And all interaction is strictly under adult supervision).

Kitty! Here Kitty!

Niiiice Kitty...

Patient Kitty...

After several minutes of reaching, I finally caught Leroy. I got a little over-excited and grabbed his ear in the hope of pulling him to my mouth, but he got up and walked away. I guess he didn't much like being loved on by my delicate, gentle baby hands while he was trying to nap.

It's okay, I distracted myself by rolling onto my tummy...

Until I spotted Leroy again and tried to grab him again. Curses! Why can't I crawl??

Mind Melding With Dad

Shopping Spree

We went shopping for new stuff for me! I like new stuff. I got a highchair. It's enormous...absurdly so, in fact. Here are some pictures:

I love having my own chair!

You might think this looks ridiculously large because of the angle...you'd be wrong. It's really this ridiculous.

New chair in action

I also got a new bath seat. I am getting too big for my baby tub, and whenever I take a bath with Mom in the big bathtub, I try to swim away--so they got me my own seat. Here is a video of me using it for the first time:

Pre-Bedtime Raspberries

I have to squeeze in one last round of raspberries before bed. It helps me get good and tired so I can sleep well. My parents are really going to miss it when I no longer blow raspberries like this. I really crack them up.

Kisses Are So Funny!

Morning Workout

Every morning, after my breakfast, I like to have a little activity time.

I reach for toys for a while

Then I practice lying back and sitting up

Then I move on to Pilates

Peas!

I tried peas today. Do you think I liked them? Place your bets and then watch the video.

Michaela's Baptism...And The Sissy Suit

Today we went to my friend Michaela's baptism. Well, I really only met her today, but she's my friend. Her mom is my mom's really good friend from high school, whatever that is. I wore a sailor suit. Some will think I looked adorable...others will be embarrassed for me. Which category do you fall into?

Going to church was fun. I loved the lights and stain glass windows--but my favorite part was the echo! I talked so loud all through the service and listened to my echo. Everyone was looking at me. They must have thought I was so adorable. My mom kept shhing me--I have no idea why. And when I wasn't talking, I was audibly passing tooty fruities. Everyone thought I was so funny.

Me and my daddy

Is it wrong to be such a handsome devil in church?

Cutest picture of me EVER!

I love my Hoopy Loopy Cow!

Especially how it tastes...

At the end of the party. I was so tired.

Boola! Boola!

We went to the Yale/Harvard game today...well, we went to tailgate anyway. Mom and I left during halftime and none of our friends had even gone into the game yet. It was very cold and windy and I did not like it much, so Mom got me out of there early. Mom talked to Dad later and he said they caught the last 47 seconds of the game. They're so silly.
Here are some pictures of the day:

Guess who we were rooting for...

Baby Yalie

I want those meatballs! Hey--I can eat solid food now!

Me and Sean. I really like him. He is so nice to me. I also really like my mitten. It tastes so good.

The Boys: Sean, me, Daddy and Mike

April and Esteban

Esteban manning the grill

Michael eating a hotdog. He's a kid like me. I don't know why he got a hotdog and I didn't.
