A Compliment for Mom...?

Another conversation...

Scene: Living room, TV playing a video of Beyonce dancing (Single Ladies).

Poki: Mommy!

Mom: Yes?

Poki, pointing to the TV: Mommy!

Mom: That's Mommy?

Poki: Right there! Mommy! Dancing!

What can I say? My mom's a good dancer.

(Clarification from Mom: I was not watching MTV...I was watching Ellen)

Snowman

Well, you may not be able to see the videos from my first sledding experience, but you can see another snow first I did today!

After I worked so hard helping my mom build my snowman, I was ready to warm up. Okay...who am I kidding? I wouldn't wear my mittens so my hands got cold and that made me very, very angry. At the same time, I refused to go back inside. (I don't really understand the snow = cold thing so I didn't believe Mom when she told me I would feel better if I went inside.) The only way she could (a) get me to calm down and (b) get me to agree to go inside was with the promise of snacks and Bob the Builder. She made me a nest of blankets on the sofa and I went straight into chill mode. Man, do I know how to relax...

More Conversations

Scene: This morning, playing cars with Mom. Poki drops his snow plow behind the radiator while attempting the plow the snow off the window sill (on the other side of the glass).

Poki: Ah! Ah! Mommy? Help!

Mom reaches under the radiator and retrieves the truck.

Mom: Here you go, Poki! What do you say?

Poki: Please.

Mom: That's nice, honey, but what do you say after Mommy gets you something?

Poki: Sorry.

Mom: No, honey-- that's what you say when you've been naughty. Say "thank you."

Poki: You're welcome.

Weekend Fun With Scarlett

This Saturday, I went to the Peabody museum with Scarlett. Then on Sunday, we went to a special weekend edition of Toddler Tunes. We had a blast and were, as usual, ridiculously cute with each other. Wouldn't you like to see evidence of that? Well, too bad. My mom didn't bring her camera. Fortunately for you, Scarlett's mom comes more prepared. Click HERE to see video of our fun weekend...including...wait for it--our first dance! (Anyone who knows Scarlett does not need to see this video to know who was leading).

ABCs!

Okay, so I may skip "EFG" and go straight from "D" to "HIJ" but I still think that is pretty good!

(Mom had to break this up into 3 movies to it would upload...dumb new fancy camera.)

Ummm...let's try that again...

Sweet Dreams

Ever wonder what a 19 month old boy dreams about?

Scene: Poki's room, 4:30 pm.

Mom: Poki...it's time to wake up...you took a loooong nap. Let's wake up now, honey.

Mom gently shakes Poki's shoulder to wake him.

Poki (eyes still closed, corner of his blanket still in his mouth) mumbles: Backhoe...Garbage...Mixer...

The House That Poki Built

Often lately, Mom and I have been playing with some building blocks that Pippi gave me. My favorite thing to do is build houses for the cats. My mom thinks I might be a future architect, just like my dad. Here is a sampling of one of our houses:

It was my idea to raise the roof by turning the blue blocks on their sides. And check it out! Max actually likes it!

Addendum: Granny told my mom that she needed to clarify that Mom helped me build this house. Surely you all did not think I could do this all on my own?!

What's The Hold Up??

That must be what is on the minds of all my readers! Well, here's the deal...you all know that my mom got a fancy new camera for Christmas, right? Well, it's too fancy for her. She has tons and tons of videos that she can't get to upload to Youtube and/or Blogger. I can hear the boos now--I know! She has videos from the first time I played in the snow, videos from Obama's inauguration, and much, much more! We're working to correct this glitch, but in the meantime, here is a little list of some of the conversations I've had with my mom this week.

Scene: Earlier this week, while eating breakfast.

Mom: Poki, would you like for Aunt Shvia to come visit us?

Poki (eyes gleaming): Shvia! Shvia!

Poki looks down, a wide smile spreads across his face, then whispers: Presents...

------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene: Today, while playing with my train table.

Poki: Mommy? Tunnel!

Mom: Oh--would you like for me to fix the tunnel for your trains?

Mom puts the tunnel over the tracks.

Mom: There you go! All fixed! Now...what do you say?

Poki: Good job!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene: Tonight, saying prayers before bed.

Mom: Who do we want to ask God to bless? Who do we love?

Poki: Babi...

Mom: Um hmm...who else?

Poki: Boompa...Shvia...Bashka...Ginny... Dodaddy...(The usual list goes on and on and on).

Mom: And what about your friends?

Poki: Scarlett...

Mom: Um hmmm...who else?

Poki: Ernie...

Mom: Ernie? Who's Ernie?

Poki: Ernie...Bert...

Mom: Sigh...

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Scene: Thursday night, walking through the Walmart parking lot.

Poki: Obama! Obama!

Mom: Where? Where is Obama?

Poki: Right there! (pointing to the American flag on the flagpole at McDonald's)

What can I say? I'm my mama's boy.

Handyman

This weekend, my parents finally ended their 3 year long search for a new living room rug. My mom is so happy, she never wants to leave the room again. But, as is always the case, the new rug sparked dreams of new curtains and other decorating details. So that, in a nutshell, is how we spent our weekend. You would think that would be boring for me, but no! See, hanging curtains involves something pretty darn fantastic: Tools!

As soon as Dad pulled out his tool box, I had to find my tool belt to help him.

Finally, I had lots of fun measuring everything in the house from the table, to my mom's foot, to myself. (Sorry...apparently my Mom's new camera doesn't rotate video as it claims...or at least she hasn't figured out how to do it.)

(Disclaimer: I do not have a new "50's greaser" hair style. I'm having some allergy issues which have resulted in very, very dry skin all over my body. Mom finally gave in and slathered my head in vaseline. I know...how gross. If any of you parents out there have experienced this with your kids, my mom would love some feedback!)

Copycats

My mom is still having problems getting video from her new camera to upload, but she managed to get one funny one to work. Here is her favorite video from our Tennessee visit. It shows my new favorite game: Do What I Say. Basically it consists of me doing something, then calling on other people in the room to do it too. In this video, the only person not answering my request is Daddy...because he was busy operating the camera. Well, that just wasn't a very good excuse.

Catching Up

Since Marna has complained to my mom twice this week that we haven't been posting anything new, we thought we would at least post a little something. Mom got a new camera for Christmas (Woo-Hoo!!!!!) and she needed to install the software. So! That's why you haven't seen anything new on here for a while. We have tons and tons of super cool pictures and videos from our Tennessee visit. She's hoping to sift through some of those tomorrow, but in the meantime, here are some pictures from this morning.

Daddy had to dress up because he had some fancy work stuff to do, so he wore a tie. He rarely wears ties, so I thought it was really something! I wanted to wear a tie too. ...and then I realized why he wears them so rarely.

My mom still can't believe she actually caught that expression on camera.

I've missed you guys! Check back in for more very, very soon!
