I Know This Will Come As A Big Surprise...

...But my parents think I am really cute. They think I am the cutest baby ever. Because of this, they want my Christmas card picture to be the cutest I have ever taken. Well, let's just say it wasn't. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, my parents took 153 pictures of me. Can you believe that there is not a single one where I am smiling and looking at the camera? I have recently discovered how fun it is to stick out my tongue, so every picture is of me, sticking out my tongue or of me putting something (or things) in my mouth. My mom says the dreams of my becoming an international baby model and supporting her for the rest of her life have been squashed. Oh well...
Just to prove her wrong, I posed for some adorable pictures today.

Guess who suddenly loves Tummy Time?
All my mom has to do is applaud and say "Yay, Carson! Yay, Carson!" and I begin to enjoy it. (Well of course I do). I push up on my arms, stick my booty up in the air, kick my legs, pull my legs underneath me, or roll back and forth from my tummy to my back and my back to my tummy, and so on. I'll admit I was sceptical at first, but this tummy stuff isn't so bad. I might even catch up to my girlfriend Scarlett before too long. (To see her in action, click here: http://mycheekybaby.blogspot.com/2007/11/okay.html ).

And this is a bittersweet picture. My Uncle Jeff (also known as the Best Best Man) moved to Colorado. He called and left a voicemail just for me. Here I am listening to it on speakerphone. I love my Uncle Jeff so much and I am really going to miss him. I guess I can forgive him though, since some might say I am technically from Colorado.
Shout out to Uncle Jeff: Holla!

Finally! Some Fruit!

Now this is what I'm talking about! I ate some pears tonight and man oh man, were they good!

Water Is So Cool!

I love bath time. It's my favorite thing. I like it so much that my mom has decided to let me have one every day at the start of my bedtime routine. When I would take my bath with Mom in the big bath tub, she would hold me so my feet were under the faucet. Now that I have my new bath seat, I can hold my hands under the faucet too. Did you guys know that water could do this?! It's so cool! My turtles swim under the faucet too and they dance around. I just can't get over it. You guys should really try turning on the faucets in your bath tubs and sticking your hands under the water. I highly recommend it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

For my first Thanksgiving, I had sweet potatoes! My reaction was very surprising to my mom. Aunt La La said I needed to have some marshmallows on top, the way God intended.

Here Kitty, Kitty!

I love my kitty Leroy. He let's me pet him...if I'm gentle. Yesterday, I patted him very sweetly, then yanked a handful of fur. He just looked up at me as if to say: "Ouch...Why did you do that?" He's the best.
(Mommy Note: Don't worry! Leroy does not have claws! And all interaction is strictly under adult supervision).

Kitty! Here Kitty!

Niiiice Kitty...

Patient Kitty...

After several minutes of reaching, I finally caught Leroy. I got a little over-excited and grabbed his ear in the hope of pulling him to my mouth, but he got up and walked away. I guess he didn't much like being loved on by my delicate, gentle baby hands while he was trying to nap.

It's okay, I distracted myself by rolling onto my tummy...

Until I spotted Leroy again and tried to grab him again. Curses! Why can't I crawl??

Mind Melding With Dad

Shopping Spree

We went shopping for new stuff for me! I like new stuff. I got a highchair. It's enormous...absurdly so, in fact. Here are some pictures:

I love having my own chair!

You might think this looks ridiculously large because of the angle...you'd be wrong. It's really this ridiculous.

New chair in action

I also got a new bath seat. I am getting too big for my baby tub, and whenever I take a bath with Mom in the big bathtub, I try to swim away--so they got me my own seat. Here is a video of me using it for the first time:

Pre-Bedtime Raspberries

I have to squeeze in one last round of raspberries before bed. It helps me get good and tired so I can sleep well. My parents are really going to miss it when I no longer blow raspberries like this. I really crack them up.

Kisses Are So Funny!

Morning Workout

Every morning, after my breakfast, I like to have a little activity time.

I reach for toys for a while

Then I practice lying back and sitting up

Then I move on to Pilates

Peas!

I tried peas today. Do you think I liked them? Place your bets and then watch the video.

Michaela's Baptism...And The Sissy Suit

Today we went to my friend Michaela's baptism. Well, I really only met her today, but she's my friend. Her mom is my mom's really good friend from high school, whatever that is. I wore a sailor suit. Some will think I looked adorable...others will be embarrassed for me. Which category do you fall into?

Going to church was fun. I loved the lights and stain glass windows--but my favorite part was the echo! I talked so loud all through the service and listened to my echo. Everyone was looking at me. They must have thought I was so adorable. My mom kept shhing me--I have no idea why. And when I wasn't talking, I was audibly passing tooty fruities. Everyone thought I was so funny.

Boola! Boola!

We went to the Yale/Harvard game today...well, we went to tailgate anyway. Mom and I left during halftime and none of our friends had even gone into the game yet. It was very cold and windy and I did not like it much, so Mom got me out of there early. Mom talked to Dad later and he said they caught the last 47 seconds of the game. They're so silly.
Here are some pictures of the day:

Guess who we were rooting for...

Baby Yalie

I want those meatballs! Hey--I can eat solid food now!

Me and Sean. I really like him. He is so nice to me. I also really like my mitten. It tastes so good.

Shhh...I'm Hunting Wabbits...And Wions And Monkeys Too.

I've found a new use for my mobile. I could seriously do this for an hour.

Drunken Opera Singer

That's what mom thinks I look like in this video.

The Truth Comes Out

Okay, people! Here's the deal. All of my friends, family and fans comment on how great my videos are and how happy a baby I seem, but they don't really see what goes on behind the lens. If you want to know the truth, my contentment all depends on one woman acting like an idiot. My mom is a fool. Many of you can hear her craziness (which, at times, she regrets sharing with you) on my videos, but you really have no idea. The thing is, the bigger idiot she makes of herself, the happier I am! And now I think I have created a monster. I mean, the songs alone! Oh gees! She has a ridiculous song for everything--and I love them! There's the poop song ("Poopie Poop" sung to the Spiderman theme), there's the toot song ("Tootie Fruity From The Booty" sung to the tune of the Little Richard classic), there's the Pokolodi Theme (sung to the tune of "Rubber Ducky") and many, many more. My new favorite is the one she sings during our exercise time. It's called "Kicky La Rue," and it is an original composition, inspired by an Irish Jig. It goes like this:

Kicky La Rue has one red shoe!
Now what in the world will Kicky do?
He kicked so much he lost his shoe!
Oh poor little Kicky La Rue!

Man do I love it. I just stare at her with a goofy grin and kick my legs along to the music.

That's just a little taste of the behind the scenes action here at Poki's house. Shameful, right? My poor dorky mom...oh but she loves having the excuse.

Poki's Morning Chat Show

I was really trying to talk to my mom this morning when I woke up. She thought it was funny so she grabbed the camera. Of course, when I saw it, I clammed up. (As you all know, I just hate being the center of attention). Eventually, I recovered from my stage fright and got to talking.

Sleep Sack or Straight Jacket?...

...You be the judge.

My mom is trying to help me sleep outside of my swaddle. I try to break out of it, but I can't sleep without it. It's a lose/lose situation. She read some suggestions online for pinning the arms closed in my sleep sack to help transition me.

We're not so sure it's a good idea--what do you think?

CARROTS!

I tried carrots for the first time last night. It was my first taste of non-cereal/ non-prune juice solid food! Wanna know what I thought of them? Just watch the videos!
They are a little long, but my folks wanted to tape the whole thing.

ps
That bib is from Aunt Donna. We think it is very funny...but we don't wear it in public. Hee hee.

Question: How Do You Get A Poki Who Hates Tummy Time To Stay On His Tummy?

Answer: Give Him An Audience!

My Birthday Suit--The Day After My Birthday!

I love being naked! 'Nuff said.

All clean! And almost naked!

5 Months!

Can you believe I am five months old already? I feel like I've been alive forever, but my mom thinks time has really flown by. In honor of my birthday, I invented a new game. I call it "cereal raspberries." I think the rules are pretty self-explanatory--Let's just say I wasn't the only one who needed a bath after yesterday's feeding. I have a feeling you'll see video of my game soon.

Here are some pictures from my 154th day as a baby:

This is me body-slamming Daddy. I'm a good wrestler.

My mom's high school sent me a bib. It comes in handy during a grueling (drooling) game of cereal raspberries.

Teething rings, chilled wash clothes, stuffed animal ears? Pish-posh! My favorite teething toy is Daddy's finger!

I only have one bottle a day, but I'm beginning to figure out how it works. I even like holding it myself!

Solids! Solids! Solids!

I went to the doctor today for my 4 month check-up, even though I am almost 5 months old. I know it's confusing, but that's just how it is. So I know you are all wanting to know how I am--and how big I am. Well, I'm perfect. He says so every time he sees me. And I am a big boy. I weighed in at a whopping 17 pounds, 6 ounces! The doctor said that I could start doing all sorts of things, and the best of all is that I can eat solid foods! I had my first serving of cereal tonight and let me tell you: I loved it. My mom couldn't give it to me fast enough. See for yourself:

Considering it was my first time with solids, I think I did extremely well. I kept trying to tell my parents that I was ready, but they wanted to get the official OK from the doc. Also considering this was my first time, I was very clean! I just needed a little wipe-down afterward--no bath. My face was good and covered by the end though.

So Sleepy...And Then So Sad

Babushka got me this great car seat/ stroller cozy. It's fantastic. I love it. Here is a picture of me sleeping in it...and then a picture of me getting upset because my mom woke me up by taking my picture.

Chillin' With The Hep Cats

I'm sitting really well--but as you can see, I still need something soft to fall on. Let's hope it's not Leroy!

Who Is Poki Talking To?

My mom caught me alone in my crib doing something very mysterious: Talking to nobody!
She may not have known who I was talking to, but I was talking for Babi. Babi is my great-grandmother and she says she loves hearing my voice, so I have to give her the opportunity every chance I get. I'm really trying to say words now, can you tell?

Just Look At That Poki Go, Bro!

This is the song my mom sings while I roll around on the floor, on the bed, in my crib...wherever I can roll:

(To the tune of Rawhide...in case you people couldn't figure that out)
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Poki is a'rollin'
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Baaa-by
Poki is a'rollin'
He sure likes a'rollin'
Keep them Pokies rollin'
Baa-by

Roll 'em on, roll 'em up
Roll 'em up, roll 'em out
Roll 'em on, roll 'em out
Pokiiiiiiii!

Sometimes I think my mom likes having a baby just so she has an excuse to make up silly songs. She's embarrassing...But at least she's not making them up about the cats anymore.

I'm Just On A Roll...Literally!

When I was a month old, I rolled from my tummy to my back. I hated being on my tummy so much that I kicked until I managed to get onto my back. Pretty amazing, huh? Well, For some reason it has taken me a long time to roll onto my tummy, but I finally did last night--and now I can't stop! I'm a rollin' machine! A steam roller! A roly poly! A Tootsie Roll! If it's got any version of "roll" in the name, I'm it!

I am also suddenly able to sit up on my own. I still have a pillow next to me in case I topple, but I'm doing it. See:

The Great Toy Massacre of 2007

Before...

After...

Take That, Bib!

Sometimes I really don't like my bib, but they say absence makes the heart grow fonder...and I think they might be right.

I'm a Busy Kid--And I'm a Genius!

It's been a full day, and like a good documentarian, Mom has had the camera ready. Here's me showing the world my genius. I can turn the pages of my book! And I mean to--really I do!

Need I Say More?

My mom is silly--that is just one of the reasons I like hanging out with her. She is building up quite a repertoire (What? I know what that means) of voices and noises--and I pretty much love all of them.

Dinosaurs, Turtles, and Puppets--Oh My!

Today I had my second date with my girlfriend, Scarlett. We went to the Peabody Museum to see a puppet show about the space/time continuum. What? I know what that is.

Scarlett and I both have colds so we weren't allowed to snuggle or hold hands, which was lame. We had fun though. Unfortunately Mom didn't bring her camera or her photographer (he had to work today), but Scarlett's mommy was nice enough to send some pictures that she took. Too bad for you guys that her camera died before we got to the puppet show. It was really cool and I was completely mesmerized. It was so cool, you guys! It starred a one-armed fox named Roxy who built a time machine out of a baby wipes box. I'm totally going to do that.

This is me and Mom at the beach. Just Kidding! That was an exhibit at the museum! Did I fool you?
My mom is snapping in the air to get me to look at the camera. Don't worry, her arm is not vaporizing.

This is why I know Scarlett and I will last as a couple--we like the other's Mom.

This is a super cute picture of me and my baby blues. Some of you say my eyes look brown in pictures, but they are really a dazzling shade of blue in person...if I do say so myself. Sometimes my jowls overshadow them.
