Like Summer!

After fearing for months that it might never be warm again, we've had the most wonderful weather lately. Warm enough, believe it or not, for swimming! This morning, we went over to Will's house for a little post-birthday playdate with Will and Nate. Nate brought over his kiddie pool, which was pretty much the best idea EVER!

Just look at this backyard! How could you not have an awesome time in a beautiful yard like this!

We had a great time playing on Will's play set

and had fun helping Will open his presents.

I got him this golf set, which promptly turned into "water golf"...whatever that is.

I also brought along my new t-ball set--but Nate doesn't need the T. He is a great pitcher, actually, and he threw the ball to his mom for much of the morning.

The best part of the morning for our moms (besides their getting to visit with each other) was seeing their cute little boys in swim trunks and beach hats. Come on! How cute are we?

Will and I spent alot of time at the snack table--we're busy working on our summertime abs.

Remember that pool I mentioned before? Well, it was a big hit! We had a blast splashing around in it.

Yay for warm weather and good friends! This is going to be a great summer!

Scarson

Yes, that's right. Scarlett's mom, Lauren, has decided our relationship is worthy of a celebrity couple nickname. So now you have it: Scarson.

Yesterday afternoon, after we returned from our awesome trip to Boston, we met up with Scarlett and her folks for a little playground fun and an outdoor dinner and dessert at Dairy Queen.

We enjoyed our ice cream equally, but the difference in our table manners is...well...let's just say "different." I mean, just look at our faces. Scarlett doesn't have a drop on her!

To put this difference into greater perspective, here are three pictures of Scarlett taken right in a row while she ate her ice cream cone.

And here are three pictures of me, taken right after those of Scarlett.

However, one thing Scarson has in common is the intensity of our sugar high. That race was neck and neck. As evidence, please see Exhibit A--a video in which we engage in the greatest of historical debates: Good and evil, gender differences, and to whom the DQ table belongs--oh yeah--and doggies. And all set to a very dance-able beat.

A Weekend With Walnuts

This weekend was my mom's high school reunion, so we went to Boston. While mom was busy with old friends and reunion events on Saturday, I hung out with Dad and my great aunt Tata. We had a blast!

When my mom wasn't busy on campus, she managed to put together a couple of playdates with some of her Westerly dorm sisters and their kids.

Here we are with Caroline and her 9 month old baby, Jean.

And on Sunday, we went over to Olivia, Keith and Michaela's house. Michaela has awesome toys, which I decided were all mine. (Insert Mom's long sigh here). We played and ate grapes...

...and watched our parents' favorite kid show (ahem...obviously it's Olivia's favorite).

We had such a great time visiting with past and future Walnuts! We love you girls!

All Boy

Spring has sprung! That means we have a few beautiful months of wearing shorts and scraping knees. These are just from yesterday...

...and not a single tear was shed. No doubt about it--I am all boy.

Giggles

What has Poki in a fit of giggles? Find out below.

A Monkey In Kitten Heels

Noticed how supportive my dad is--he doesn't even blink an eye. What a good daddy.

No, Carson's Bed!

I've officially entered the phase of toddlerhood where I don't like to share...anything. (Insert Mom's long, frustrated sigh here). This morning, when Mom was putting my stroller away in the closet, I yelled at her: "No! Carson's stroller!" And just look what happened when I found Leroy sleeping my my bed!

Do It Self!

I threw a holy fit this morning when Mom was trying to get me dressed. See, I've got yet another cold and I've been a little fussy this week. When Mom tried to put on my green t-shirt, I let her know in no uncertain terms that I did not want to wear my green shirt. She proceeded to show me my other options, to which I said, "No! Carson do it self!" So, she let me look through my closet and choose my own outfit. I enthusiastically chose my Manchester United jersey. Then, I moved on to shoes. To see my entire ensemble, see the video below.

Yep. Those are my snowboots. And listen to my sad voice--I've had a bit of laryngitis.

Phone Call With Nicolette

Scene: Tonight, in Poki's living room. Mom had already left for work and accidentally left her cell phone behind. Dad was in the kitchen fixing dinner. Mom's cell phone rings. It's Nicolette calling. Poki answers it.

(Nicolette hears rustling sounds for approximately 30 seconds)

Nicolette: Carson?

Poki: Carson.

Nicolette: Hi, Carson.

Poki: Carson.

Nicolette: What are you doing, Carson? Are you eating dinner?

Poki: Goldfish.

Nicolette: You're eating goldfish?

Poki: Yeah.

(Momentary silence. Nicolette wonders why Mom has not taken the phone out of Carson's hand)

Nicolette: I saw some tow-trucks today and I thought of you, Carson!

Poki: (Heavy Breathing)

Nicolette: (Continues her attempts to have a conversation with Poki)

Poki: (More heavy breathing)

Dad: Carson--What are you doing with Mommy's phone? (Takes the phone from him and realizes someone is on the other end) Hello? Nicolette? Did Carson call you???

The Dancer Noble

Some of you may already know that even though my mom knew she wanted to name me after my great grandfather, she and Dad had some other names on the "short list." One of those names was Mikhail, a family name on my dad's side and the name of my mother's favorite male ballet dancer, Mikhail Baryshnikov. Well, it seems that may have been an appropriate tribute. Mom has noticed me doing some typical ballet dance steps on my own and has taught me the terms to go with them. Here is a little demonstration--but be warned--apparently I think I'm ready for point work.

Chatterbox

One of the things I've been doing alot of in the last month is talking to myself and to my toys. It cracks my mom up. Here is a video that my mom took of me playing in the bath tub. You'll see that I rarely stop talking! What's more impressive is that my mom actually understands most of what I am saying. See if you can too! (My mom has typed out a transcript in case you have some difficulty. See below...)

Transcript:

Poki: Excuse me, bear. Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me. Ouch. Bonk. Dance! (???) dance! (???) dance! (???) dance! (???) dance! (???) dance! (???) Dance! Dance, giraffe! (hums, then begins singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star).

Happy Easter!

This Easter, my parents decided I was old enough for us to begin a family tradition. The night before Easter, we put all our Easter eggs in my basket and left it on the porch for the Easter Bunny. We dyed eggs last week, but we decided to leave plastic eggs out for the bunny so he could hide them in the night without critters eating them. (Video and pictures of the egg dying fun will be posted very soon!)

Here we are, leaving our gift for the Easter Bunny:

Then this morning, when I woke up, Mom got me dressed so I could go outside (it was freezing!) and see if the Easter Bunny took my eggs. Guess what? He totally did! And he left me some special treats in my basket!

After I got over the initial excitement of the "Easter Bunny Cookie Chocolate" that soon became my breakfast, I agreed to follow the Easter Bunny's trail of eggs leading from my front porch, down the stairs, through the flower bed in the front yard, up the driveway, and into the back yard.

At first I was totally into it. Then my cookie became endangered and I lost focus. I still searched for a while, but it was really cold and I eventually gave up on the eggs and asked Mom to carry me back inside. This video was really long, but Mom edited it a bit so you could just see a little of my superior hunting abilities (and not-so-superior color identifying abilities).

Finally, after Mom carried me inside (What? I was cold! And I worked really hard hunting eggs...sort of...), we had breakfast and took a closer look at the other goodies in my basket. I got 5 new books about trains and trucks--AND I got a really cool new toothbrush. All I wanted to do for the rest of the day was brush my teeth...which is a good thing after my chocolaty breakfast!

Happy Easter, everyone! Check back in--There's much more to come soon!

Okay, Even I Have To Admit...

...this is a bit excessive. It may be time for an intervention.

And this doesn't include the numerous trains, trucks and cars that are in my diaper bag, my mom's car or that I've dropped behind the radiator.

ps
Happy Easter! Pictures and videos from my holiday festivities to come very soon!
