Today I ate my first cookie! I'm not sure there is really anything else to say about that. No witty commentary...I mean...I ate a cookie...what could I say that could possibly make that any more exciting than what it is? I ate a cookie, people! It's the start of a life-long love/hate relationship. Sweet, sweet cookies...sigh...

Blah, Blah, Blah...
This morning, I spent some time making new funny noises and trying to eat large objects. So, you know, it was really just an average morning...

Blobba Blobba
I love bath time. That's when I make the best noises. Last night, I invented a new one while Daddy made funny faces. He's shy though. He doesn't like to make them for the camera.

Babysitting
This is sort of like when Laverne and Shirley used to show up on Happy Days...
Monday, my mom had to take Max and Leroy to the doctor and she was afraid of trying to hold on to 2 wiggling, crying kitties and 1 wiggling, crying monkey, so I went to hang out with my friends Marna and Penelope. Penelope has a blog too, and my visit is featured on it! Check it out: http://pippiwhite.blogspot.com/2008/01/ill-have-what-shes-having.html

Visitors!
My friends Rachel and Charlie came to visit today. It's so hard to believe that I haven't seen them since I was a few days old. When my parents lived in Brooklyn, Aunt Rachey lived right around the corner so they saw each other almost every day--I wish I could see her every day now because I really like her. I like Charlie too, and he says no babies like him. We spent all afternoon together and didn't even think to take pictures until it was time for them to leave. Here we are saying our goodbyes:

Back To The Museum!
I had so much fun with Scarlett last weekend that we went back to the children's museum today for story hour. This time my mom brought her camera--and we finally got into the Goodnight Moon room alone! Here are the pictures from our day:
The Cheeky Monkey and The Chunky Monkey
What? Don't look so surprised. You all knew I was really a monkey all along.
Hee hee...Scarlett! Let go of my tail!
Scarlett and her mom, Lauren.
Me and my mom
I like reading books! Especially when I can chew on them.
Me as a bee...even though I look a little more like a fireman.
Mmmmm...antennae taste gooooood...
Here is some video of me and Scarlett as bees:
I am not wearing these dumb butterfly wings!
I'm telling you I'm not wearing them!
Butterflies are for girls...and so are headbands...sheez...
The moment you've all been waiting for--or at least our moms were waiting for.
Me with a comb and a bowl full of mush. I've eaten the mush...and now I've moved on to the comb.
Scarlett was so tuckered out after our date. Should I be offended? Does this mean I'm boring?

Planes, Trains and...well, that's all for today.
Today I went to a playgroup with my new older friend Penelope and her mom. They had some cool toys there that I could sit on and ride. Again, my mother forgot her camera--but luckily Penelope's mom had her camera, so you guys can see how much fun I had. Thanks, Marna!

Play Us A Song--You're The Piano Man...
Scarlett gave me a piano this weekend and I haven't stopped composing love songs for her since...well, during my breaks from crawl training anyway. What can I say? She inspires me. I've even tried adding some percussion to my latest song.

Is This What They Call Scooting?
My mom was so resistant at first. She was perfectly happy with my being immobile. But since I have become so eager to move, I have spent much of my days frustrated, which is not fun for her. So! Now she has surrendered and she is actually helping me learn. As you can see from the other videos, she puts objects that I love just out of my reach and I work to get to them. In this morning's video, I got to the remote control in record time! I'm really getting good at this stuff! My back half is working well, but my front half can't seem to get on board. Is this what they call scooting? Whatever it is, it's an improvement even from yesterday! Yep...I'm definitely going to be crawling soon.

Maybe Tomorrow?
Okay, so look at what my mom caught on video only moments after my last post! I kid you not. I'm really starting to get the hang of this! At this rate, I may crawl tomorrow!
It's so hard and so frustrating. Sometimes I get really mad at myself and smack the back of my hand, as if to say: "Bad Poki! Bad Poki!"

When Am I Going To Crawl??
I am so ready to crawl. In just a few weeks, I have gone from screaming whenever I rolled onto my belly to only wanting to be on my belly. I seriously spend all day playing on the floor. I love it. I no longer want to be in my jumper. Just put me on the floor and let me roll and squirm. That's right, people--I'm in the middle of some hardcore training. I won't stop until I crawl! I've tried to get Dad to hang slabs of meat in the kitchen and Mom to let chickens run free in the living room, but they refused. I tell them it worked for Rocky, but they won't listen. Oh well...I guess I will just have to settle for "The Eye of The Tiger" played on a constant loop.
Take a look at my progress--How long do you think it will be?
(p.s. Remember: Max and Leroy do not have claws)

Reunited...
I had a very fun and busy weekend this weekend--and it is all because I spent it with my girlfriend, Scarlett.
Saturday, my mom and I met Scarlett and her mom at the Children's Museum for story hour. We ended up spending a few hours there. We watched a group of weird older kids jumping around and telling stories, then we played with puppets and musical instruments. The cutest part about the museum is that there is a life-size Goodnight Moon room. Our moms were so excited about this part. Unfortunately, so was everyone else. We waited patiently to have our picture taken in the little bed with the bunny, in the great green room, next to the telephone and the red balloon--but there were all these annoying big kids messing up the bed. After a while, our moms gave up and took our pictures wherever there was a free patch of floor.
If you can believe it, my mom forgot her camera. She charged her battery in anticipation of the big day, but forgot to put it back in my diaper bag. Sigh...she can be such a flake. Luckily, Scarlett's mom is not as embarrassing as mine, and she remembered to bring her camera and graciously shared her pictures from the day. Here are a few:
In The Great Green Room...
Playing Music...
Turtle Puppets Are Funny...
So Are Funny Mirrors...
We had so much fun on Saturday that Scarlett and her mom and dad came over to my house on Sunday. Now, I know that this sounds totally absurd and you will want to check to see if my mother was running a fever or something, but she did not take a single picture all day! Scarlett and I were adorable! We were cuter than any baby couple could be! We held hands, we hugged, we hit each other in the face, we pulled hair, we shared and then stole toys...In short, we provided hours of photographic opportunities, but neither of our moms took advantage. Oh well...we'll just have to have another play date soon so they can document it and show you all.
Today, I have been so sad without my Scarlett. I was playing the blues on my new toy piano that Scarlett brought me, when my mom decided to take me over to the MLK Day celebration at the Peabody Museum. Never again. It was like Times Square on New Years Eve. We stayed for about an hour--about the time it took to enter the building, walk to the elevator, wait for the elevator, get to the third floor, see that it was too packed to exit the elevator, go back downstairs, get back in my coat, and fight our way to the exit. It was so exhausting that I fell asleep on the way home.
So that was our weekend! More later!

A Poki-Sized Towel
Quite frankly, the cuteness of this doesn't really translate in the photo. See, I had an "accident" in the tub tonight. For some reason that has been happening when Daddy bathes me. Maybe I just think it is funny to hear him call for help from Mommy. Maybe it's that I don't want bath time to end and this way I get to have a second bath. Whatever my reasons, it happened again tonight so my dad pulled me from the tub while Mom cleaned it out. Dad didn't want to get my special hooded towel dirty, so he wrapped me in a grown-up hand towel. He thought I looked so cute in my Poki-sized towel that he had Mom take my picture. Like I said...it was actually much cuter in person, but come on--it's me we're talking about--I'm frighteningly adorable no matter what.

A Very Small Sample
My mom managed to capture a tiny bit of my new vocabulary on video. It doesn't really get started until about 1 min or so in, but if you are patient enough to wait that long, you can hear a little of my cute voice.

More Pictures
Here are some pictures my mom forgot she took of me in Tennessee. There are also a couple that she took of me from today.
No I did not just run a marathon. That's not sweat...it's slobber...from blowing crazy raspberries.
One serving of cutie pie, please!
Make that a profile slice of cutie pie!
Here I am with my Uncle Mark. I only met him for like 2 minutes back in August. He's super cool. As you can see, he's one of those guys that will get in the floor and play with a kid. I like that in a person.
I'm usually such a neat eater. I'm not sure where it all went wrong here.
Me and Max doing our morning yoga.
Me in my cool new spaceman pajamas. Come on, Rocket Boy totally needed some spaceman pajamas.
The most beautiful blue eyes in the world. Who could possibly disagree?

Really Trying To Talk and Teethe! And Some Other News.
I haven't said much other than "hoo" since I was born, but I sure do blow alot of raspberries. Today, however, I decided to stop holding back. This morning, I spent a good deal of time saying the following phrase: "eh da do ta." Then, in the midst of a whispered round of "ta ta ta ta ta ta ta," I let out a big "wow wow wow boo rooo kaaaa!" Finally, I asked for some brie. Well, I began to babble something that sounded remarkably like "bree." You may wonder where the video is, documenting my new-found talent. Well, my mom tried, but every time I saw the camera, I clammed up. You'll just have to take my word for it until she gets some proof.
In addition, I should have a tooth any day now. I have a bump on my lower gum that clicks when my mom taps it with a spoon. It seems to be getting bigger by the day, so hopefully it will pop out this week!
In other late-breaking adorable news, my kitty Max and I are now very good friends. In fact, since we returned from Tennessee, I have realized just how hilarious my kitties are. Every time they walk by, I laugh really loud. They're funny, what can I say? Today, as I was playing on my blanket with my toys, Max ran over to his kitty bed and grabbed a cat toy that my mom swears he has never even sniffed, then he ran back over to my blanket, dropped the toy and plopped down right next to me. I was so moved by this obvious peace offering that I immediately grabbed the biggest handful of fur (and probably skin) that I could. My mom dived across the blanket to free Max from my death grip, because Max has been known to nip a little from time to time. Luckily for me, he somehow understands that I am a baby and I didn't mean to hurt him. So, now I guess we are friends. I'm so glad because he makes me laugh and laugh.
I have no new pictures from today, so instead I will remind you of what I looked like just 7 short months ago. Oh how time flies...
To put things in even greater perspective, here is a picture of me in my baby bjorn for the first time. It is now on the largest setting. No sausage legs here! (Please excuse my mother's appearance...she had just given birth a few days before).

The Cousins
I'm back from Tennessee and boy did I have a good time! To tell the truth, I thought I had moved there permanently until we got back to our New Haven pad last night. I have lots of stuff to share about my trip, but I just don't have the patience at this time of day to go over everything, so instead, I'll just share one picture with you and save the rest of my stories for later.
Last Friday, my mom's cousin Kim came to town with her little boy Carter. He's 10 months old. My mom's jaw was scraping the floor as she watched him scurry across the rug, wave bye-bye, kiss, give high-fives, walk and talk. I don't think she realized that I could be doing those things in just 3 months. She was amazed...and terrified.
Carter is so funny. I had lots of fun playing with him and watching him move all over the place. Here is a picture of us with our moms. My mom has a similar picture of her with Kim when they were little girls holding Mickey Mouse paperdolls instead of babies that she was going to scan and put side-by-side with this, but the scanner isn't working. Oh well!

7 Months!
And I grow cuter by the day, if I do say so myself...and the sausage legs grow bigger by the day too...

So Much To Cover!
I have had a very busy couple of weeks here in Tennessee. I love it here. And I really feel like I am connecting to my roots, so Mom and I are staying another week! I wanted to just share some of the exciting things that I have done and some pictures of the wonderful people I have been spending time with.
Here I am drinking my very first apple juice from a cup on an airplane. There are just too many cool things about that sentence--I can't stand it!
Nana, my great grandfather and the man I was named after, celebrated his birthday the morning after we arrived in Tennessee. I decided to wake up every hour the night before, so we were all very tired (especially Granny), but we wouldn't miss Nana's birthday for the world!
On Christmas morning. Are all these for me? Cause I love paper and this is alot of paper.
Here is a video of me opening a present. This is just a little taste of my entire morning. I love opening presents. Paper is just about the greatest thing ever invented. Do you guys know about paper? It is so cool. What?...There's something inside the box too?
I got a new snowsuit for Christmas!
How cool do I look in it?
I got some super cool new shoes for Christmas too! I wasn't sure what to think of them at first, but I like them now.
I also got a new hat for Christmas. How cute am I?
Here is my Aunt La La. She's my Mom's sister. I love her.
Here is my Aunt Sofia. She's also my Godmother. She's in the Peace Corps and met me for the very first time this vacation. She's my Dad's sister. I love her too. Truth is...I have developed many a crush during this visit--but don't worry, Scarlett! My heart still belongs to you.
Here I am sitting on a rug that Babi made for me. Isn't it so cool? It has trucks and stuff on it! It's almost as cool as Babi's shoelaces!
Here I am snuggling with my granny. No one knows what her secret is, but all she has to do is put a baby on her chest and pat his bottom and he is out. Snoozey snoozey!
Here I am with my beautiful Sofia again. Did I mention how much I love her?
I also learned a new trick. Here is the still:
And here is the video (featuring a few new tricks). Can you tell how eager I am to get moving?!
Here I am with my uncle Preston. He's the coolest. He makes the goofiest faces. I love him. He's my mom's brother.
Me and my Grandpa Rolly. He's doesn't think I like him, but I really do. And when I get more into story-telling, I'm going to love him more than anyone else because he tells the best stories. Don't you think we look alike?
This is me and my Granddaddy. He's my mom's daddy.
Another picture of me and Granny snuggling. I'm telling you--there is something about that chest!
This is me, Aunt La La and Cousin Sam. He's going to teach me everything there is to know about Star Wars and Ninja moves.
Me and Babi. Oh man, do I love this woman. She is the greatest ever! She's thinks I'm pretty terrific too.
Me and Uncle Chris. I have no idea where my Aunt Holly is--she should have been in this picture too.
My Cousin Dru is so amazed by me. I think she is pretty cool too.
And now for the videos. There are so many. Too many, in fact. For now, I will just share a few.
Here is a video of me meeting some llamas at Granny's church.
Over Christmas, I met my Uncle Todd (also my Godfather), Aunt Kate and Cousins John, Mason and Tully. Tully is just a little baby. He's six weeks younger than I am. I'm trying to show him the ropes, but surprisingly, he already knows a few things. Here we are having a good old fashioned baby squirming race on Granny's bed. By the way, the bruise mentioned at the end ended up not being a bruise at all. It was some dye from my diaper rubbing off on my legs. Everyone thought I had bruises from my exersaucer or something. I just thought I would mention it so you guys didn't think something had happened to me.
And here is a video of my daddy getting me all worked up before bed, which my mom can't stand. He is a typical "dangerous" daddy and she is a typical "terrified" mommy. You can see a pretty cool new trick that I have been working on with my abs of steel though. I can pull myself up to sitting from lying down. People say I'm fat, but I'm all muscle.
I also got baptized last week! My whole family was here and it was very exciting. Daddy has lots of great pictures of that on his fancy camera, but I'll try to get those up very soon for everyone to see.
I'm off for now, but I'll be back soon with more tales of my Tennessee adventures!
