Guess What I Got!

Yesterday, my mom went to her favorite children's tag sale. It happens every October and April (or in this case, March) and it's where she stocks up on my wardrobe for the upcoming couple of seasons. Sometimes she get a few books and toys too.

She came back yesterday with a giant bag full of clothes and books...but that's not all! She also brought me two special presents. One in particular was a bit of a shocker.

Dinner And A Movie

Scarlett and her mom came over tonight for dinner and a movie. We had so much fun! It's such a nice change to get to see my Scarlett in the middle of the week! Here are some pictures:

Scarlett arrived at my door looking adorable in her fur-trimmed coat (which I promptly exclaimed was a doggie) and carrying a little white paper bag. We all know where you get little white paper bags, right? The bakery! She picked out two Easter Bunny cookies for our dessert. Mom was a little late getting a picture of mine. I had already nibbled an ear and licked off some icing.

After our cookies, we played for a bit and then snuggled up for my favorite movie: Toy Story. Scarlett had never seen it before and frankly, I don't think she appreciated it as much as I do. Maybe if there had been a fairy princess doll in there somewhere.

We started off on the chair together...

And ended up on the floor. Come on, people! How cute are we?

Thanks for a fun night, Scarlett and Lauren! I can't wait for tomorrow's date!

Ol' Susanna!

Every time this song comes on, I race to my toy cabinet for my banjo. Mom's been trying to catch it on video all week. This is the closest she's come.

(See the next post to find out who my Mom was talking about when she said "guess who's here?")

Insert Caption Here

Here's a little contest for you folks: Leave a comment with your caption for this photo of me trying on Daddy's glasses. Mom has about 20 ideas she can't decide on and wondered if it might inspire any of you just as much.

Making Cookies

Tonight, while Daddy cooked us a delicious dinner, Mom and I worked on dessert. We baked and decorated cookies (an idea we shamelessly stole from Scarlett). I mean, I've helped Mom baked several times before, but we've never decorated our baking projects. And let me tell you, my favorite part was the decorating. For those unfamiliar with with process, let me explain.

Step 1: Frost the cookie

Step 2: Sample the frosting. Mmmmm...

Step 3: Apply candy sprinkles.

Voila! Fancy, delicious, beautifully decorated cookies!

And those fallen in battle. Come on, people. Did you really think I could decorate cookies without trying to (and sometimes succeeding in) licking them?

Art Class and Play Time

Today my mom and I joined (who else?!) Scarlett and her mom for an art class at Gymboree. Afterward, we were invited to stay take another class in the gym. Here are some pictures from our fun morning.

I ran around like a crazy monkey in a crazy cute smock
(Don't knock my smock or I'll clean your clock)

while Scarlett patiently listened to the teacher's instructions.

Then we worked on our sunflower paintings.

And played with moon sand.

And waited for the teacher's instructions...a little less patiently this time.

Then art class ended and we went over to the gym section and played and played and played.

Thanks for a fun day, Scarlett!

Hide and Seek

Mom introduced me to my new favorite game the other day. It's called Hide and Seek. Have you guys heard about it? It's really fun. We played with my friend, Bird for like 1 1/2 hours...seriously. Mom caught the last few rounds on film. Check it out:

First Sentence!

Today I said my first real, articulate sentence. I mean, I've sort of been saying sentences for a few weeks now, but not like this. I've said things like "More milk, please" or "Put on Carson's shoe." I've also murmured the beginning of a sentence and then chimed in with the rest clearly, like "Ada ada garbage truck outside!" But nothing like this. Today's sentence had a subject, contraction, verb, article and direct object. My mom couldn't believe her ears and is still kicking herself for not having a 24 hours surveillance camera on me to record my every milestone. At the time she thought it would be kind of creepy and an invasion of my privacy, which would eventually scar me for life. But now she's thinking it was a dang good idea. Oh well...

Anyway, I'm guessing that you guys would like to know what this spectacular sentence was? Well...it's a little bizarre, but not really surprising if you know me.

Today during lunch, I was munching on some pears when I spotted the salt shaker on the other end of the table. I reached for it, but it was too far so I said to Mom: "Ah! Ah! Mommy! I can't reach the pepper!" Okay, so maybe it was salt and not pepper--and maybe pepper (or salt) on pears sounds really disgusting, but who cares? I said a real sentence!

Yay Me!

Poki Meet Anxiety. Anxiety, This Is Poki. You'll Be Life-Long Friends.

This morning, while my mom was cooking some eggs for my breakfast, she let me watch 10 minutes of a cartoon. She now knows that she should have let me watch the entire episode, because I didn't get to see the characters resolve a particular problem and it stressed me out for the next 3 1/2 hours. I wouldn't stop talking about it over lunch, and Mom decided to get some of it on video. Keep in mind, she didn't see a minute of the cartoon, so everything she is asking about is information I already provided for her in my extreme worry.

Revisiting Human Foosball

This morning, Dad and I decided to play an old favorite game of ours: Human Foosball. It's been nearly a year since our last match. (For a reminder, click here.) I've gotten much, much better in the last year, if I do say so myself.

First Carnival

This Saturday, I went to my first carnival. There was a moonbounce and face-painting and games. My mom thought I would love the moonbounce, especially when I ran right to it as soon as we entered the room. But when I got inside, I immediately tried to climb back out. It was not for me. Instead I watched my friends Ruby and Jonah bounce on the moon.

You know what was for me? The games. Here is a video of me playing my first ever carnival game. And with the warm weather approaching, I don't think it will be my last. I've got a pretty good arm!

Playgroup Friends

Many of you have heard me talk about Ruby and Jonah, my friends from playgroup, but they've yet to be featured on the blog.
Today, Ruby's mom took some pictures of us at our weekly playgroup. She took several great ones, but these are my mom's two favorites.

Jonah, Ruby and Poki.

Poki and Ruby, holding hands.

Thanks for the pictures, Sarjan! We love them!

Snowmen Are For Amateurs

Today my mom and I decided to think outside the box...okay fine. We totally stole this idea from Pippi and her folks. But it was a good idea!

Here is our attempt at visible photograph of our attempt at a snow train--complete with tank engine, passenger car, tanker and dump truck train thingy (carrying snowball "rocks").

Next time we want to try painting the snow with food coloring or something...but that was a project my mom was not willing to tackle today.

Where Is Poki?

I sing all the time now. In fact, it seems like I learn a new song every day. Here I am putting my own twist on a classic.

Poki Hearts Ice Cream

ps My mom is EVIL!

We're Off To See The Wizard!

This weekend, my parents took me to my first play: The Wizard of Oz! They weren't entirely sure I would be capable of sitting for the 45 minute show, let alone pay attention, but I did. In fact, I loved it.

Here I am, intently watching the show.

After the show, Scarlett and I followed the yellow brick road--I mean--slate sidewalk on home.
